Sometimes I wish life came with an instruction manual;something similar to the step by step booklet that comes with a vacuum.
Step 1. Be born( Dad inserted tab A into moms slot B)
Step 2. Enjoy childhood
Step 3. Be a moody teenager
Step 4. Step into adulthood
Step 5. Midlife crisis( model may experience breakdown from wear and tear)
Step 6. Old age and then.....
But, unfortunately, no instruction manual. Oh there are those who will offer their jaded advice based on the screw ups they've experienced, but it's not the same. I could tell you how to make an excellent Chicken Alfredo, but it wouldnt be the same as you reading it from a Julia Childs cookbook, with detailed guidance. Now my grandmother would interject at this point, telling me that we do have a manual for day to day living, that guides us on our path and shows us the way....yada yada yada...(I was talking about the Bible by the way). Dont get me wrong, I practice the Christian faith and I've spent many nights delving into the pages of that ancient tome, seeking the subliminal road sign that would say "Go This Way Dummy", but of course it seemed like just more advice...peppered with plenty of 'Tho Shalt's' and 'Begats'. I guess, for the time being, I'll continue down life's highway, with my thumb hitched up....
